Scullion, Penguins Outgun Pipers in High-Octane Road Victory

PICTOU – In an offensive showcase at Hector Arena on Friday night, the visiting Penguins continued their hot start to the season, defeating the Shoreline Pipers 6-3 in a game dominated by their top line and a significant shot advantage.

The Penguins' offense was firing on all cylinders, outshooting the Pipers 56-36. The dynamic trio of #10 Jimmy Scullion, #9 Ty Hunter, and #11 Cedric Ralph proved unstoppable, combining for an impressive 11 points on the night.

Scullion was the engine, recording a five-point night with a goal and four assists. Hunter netted two goals, including the crucial game-winner in the third period, and Ralph chipped in with a goal and two assists. Defenseman #4 Will Thompson also had a multi-point game with four assists from the blue line.

The Penguins set the pace early, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Hunter and Scullion. However, the Pipers, led by #71 Nate Leger who had a goal and two assists, refused to go quietly. Leger assisted on a second-period goal and then scored one of his own to complete a Pipers comeback, tying the game at 3-3 late in the second frame.

Any momentum the home team carried into the third period was quickly extinguished. The Penguins reclaimed their dominance, scoring three unanswered goals. The game-winner came off the stick of Ty Hunter at 17:25, followed quickly by an insurance marker from Cedric Ralph just 43 seconds later. Ralph added an empty-net goal to seal the 6-3 victory.

Penguins' goaltender #31 Bryan Gillis was solid when called upon, making 33 saves for the win. Pipers' netminder #1 Andrew Macleod was undoubtedly the busier of the two, facing a barrage of 56 shots and making 50 saves in a commendable performance despite the loss.

The game featured a late fight, with majors handed out to the Pipers' #5 Fraser Roddick and the Penguins' #36 Connor Baker as time expired.

The win gives the Penguins a 2-0 record to start the season, showcasing a powerful and deep offensive attack. The Shoreline Pipers fall to 0-2 and will look to tighten up their defensive game after allowing 11 goals in their first two outings.
