Antigonish Feb. 8th - The Bearcats traveled to Antigonish for an afternoon matchup with the Bulldogs in a tightly contested battle. Antigonish set the tone early, coming out with strong pace and energy, and opened the scoring when Will Kelly recorded his second goal of the season, beating Alec MacDonald, who was making his first start since leaving a game a couple of weeks earlier against East Hants. Both teams had power-play opportunities late in the opening period, but the goaltenders stood tall, and the Bulldogs carried a 1–0 lead into the first intermission.
The Bearcats responded in the second period by establishing their forecheck and generating more sustained pressure. That effort paid off early when Cam Patton capitalized on a loose puck in front to score his 7th goal of the season and tie the game. As the period continued, both teams traded chances, with MacDonald and Bulldogs netminder Bryson Uberoi making key saves to keep the game even. Antigonish regained the lead later in the frame when Cal MacPherson scored his fifth of the season on a 2-on-1 play, sending the Bulldogs into the third period with a 2–1 advantage.
The third period featured end-to-end action and several momentum swings. Kelly Bent tied the game early with a shorthanded goal for the Bearcats, before Cam Patton added his second of the afternoon to give the Bearcats their first lead at 3–2. The Bulldogs answered midway through the period when Zach Fitzgerald scored his fourth of the season, pouncing on a rebound out front to even the game.
Late penalties proved costly for the Bearcats, as the Bulldogs capitalized on a 5-on-3 opportunity with Brad Kennedy firing home the eventual game-winning goal with just over three minutes remaining. Antigonish held on down the stretch, highlighted by a spectacular diving save from Bryson Uberoi in the final minutes. Uberoi finished the afternoon with 35 saves on 38 shots, helping the Bulldogs secure a 4–3 victory.
The win marked Antigonish’s first victory over the Bearcats this season, with the two teams set to meet again Saturday night in Antigonish.
