2025-2026 MVP Nominees
The 2025–2026 regular season has officially come to a close and that means it’s time for award season.
As the four Northumberland Division teams battle it out in their respective playoffs, it’s time to recognize the players who made the biggest impact during the regular season.
Here are four players who truly exemplify what it means to be the Most Valuable Player in this league:
#19 Taylor Burke – East Hants
Taylor Burke led East Hants to an impressive 17-1-2 record this season, helping them finish atop the Northumberland Division standings. He finished first in goals with 17, second in league scoring with 35 points, and recorded three game-winning goals. His 2.2 points-per-game average led the league.
Burke’s value extends far beyond the scoresheet. His leadership and presence on and off the ice have been among the most respected in the division, earning him a well-deserved place in the MVP conversation.
#18 Brandon Verge – Pictou County
Brandon Verge once again showed why he’s considered one of the league’s elite scorers. He led the Pipers with 25 points and finished second in the division with 15 goals.
Despite a challenging season for Pictou County, Verge consistently gave 100% every night. His quiet leadership and relentless effort made him the driving force behind his team’s offense.
#7 Bradley Kennedy – Antigonish
The big power forward for the Bulldogs, Bradley Kennedy led Antigonish in scoring with 27 points. His physical presence makes him one of the toughest players to play against in the division.
Kennedy leads by example scoring timely goals, delivering momentum-shifting hits, and setting the tone every time he steps on the ice.
#11 Colin Campbell – Truro
Colin Campbell looked poised to chase down the scoring lead before injuries forced him to miss the final three games of the season. He still finished with a team-leading 30 points, averaging 1.8 points per game, tied for second in the division.
When the Bearcats lost their captain to injury in late January, Campbell stepped up in a major way. His offensive talent and leadership in the dressing room became a key factor in Truro’s success down the stretch.
Each of these four players represents the very best of what an MVP should be, leaders who elevate their teammates, compete every shift, and impact the game in every situation.
Stay tuned tomorrow as we announce the 2025–2026 Northumberland Division MVP.
